David was born in Vancouver and raised in Toronto. He attended St. Michael's Choir School (SMCS) for elementary and high school, where he received extensive musical training. As a choirboy he toured frequently to locations such as Rome, Vatican City, Trinidad and Tobago, cities across Canada, and in the US. On numerous occasions he was a featured soloist for annual SMCS Christmas concerts at the legendary Massey Hall Theatre, which provided him with unparalleled experience. Other highlights included singing for Pope John Paul II with the choir during the World Youth Day 2002 Mass service, filming episodes of Daily Mass for Vision TV, and performing at many weddings and funerals at St. Michael's Cathedral. David also studied piano through Grade 10 at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
To further his education, David moved to Ottawa and completed a Bachelor of Music at Carleton University (CU). Here he focused on classical piano performance and composition while rounding out his knowledge in jazz theory and music history. David was a member of three choirs while in Ottawa: The Canadian Centennial Choir, The Carleton University Choir, and The Capital Vox Choir, a jazz choir led by Elise Letourneau. In 2011, David represented Carleton along with two other students at the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards where William Shatner received his lifetime achievement award. In his fourth year, David cofounded the Carleton Music Showcase Radio show on CKCU 93.1 where he hosted the 30-minute (now 1-hour) program that highlights the lives and works of music students at CU.
Determined to make a career out of music, David honed his teaching skills. Now with over six years of experience, David has filled his schedule with private music students and as an instructor at Grand Staff School of Music. His knowledge and enjoyment of many genres of music moved him to learn guitar, drums, and organ as well. You can find him singing in the Toronto Oratory Choir at The Holy Family Church in Parkdale, and for services in North York at St. John's York Mills Anglican Church.
